As an alternative to taking photos, this is a weekly sketch diary of the everyday activities of Mairead’s two kids.
The sketches are drawn by hand and coloured using watercolour paints and coloured pencils.
Mairead has transferred the clean geometry and carefully selected colour palette to these hand painted larger scale artworks.

As a child, The Wizard of Oz was my favourite story. This Dorothy character was developed to explore a single character responding to a variety of scenarios through movement and facial expressions.

This series of creature illustrations was created as an extension of the style developed in the repeat patterns. Similar to the pattern characters, each line relates to the next to create simplified and concise shapes.
They were illustrated using only hand drawn graphite and water colours.
